Academic Excellence Scholarships

Pending appropriation of State funds, scholarships for Academic Excellence will be awarded to top high school seniors in June 2020. North Collins Jr/Sr High School will select the three (3) top students using the Rank-in-Class method.  These students will be chosen using class rank at the end of their junior year.

Seniors are encouraged to check out for a listing of scholarships New York State school district students may be eligible for.  There are hundreds of thousands of dollars of scholarships available on this website, and most are easy to apply for.  

Erie Community College offers many scholarships which may be accessed on the ECC website. Click on the quick links drop down box and then click on scholarship opportunities. The scholarship packet will display the criteria for each scholarship available.

In addition, there are a number of local scholarships available to graduating seniors. All applications are due by Friday, April 10, 2020.

Below are local, regional and national scholarships which may be of interest to you. In most cases, applications are available in the Guidance Office for anyone interested. Each scholarship has a different deadline, so please pay close attention to those dates to ensure your application is received in time. 



Two scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded.  


  • Must attend full time any accredited college (two or four year) in the fall.
  • Grade point average of at least 95%.
  • Girls attending Erie or Niagara County high school are eligible.

The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education and a desire to contribute to society.  The scholarships are given to deserving students each year and range in award value from $10,000 to $25,000.


  • Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the US with plans to enter college no later than the Fall semester following graduation.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US. (students may start their studies at a 2 year institution and then transfer to a 4 year institution.)
  • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required.)
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities.
  • Hold a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  • Be a US citizen.
