Scholarships


The Guidance Office receives scholarship information almost daily. This information will be posted as soon as it is received.  If you need any further information or have questions, please feel free to contact Nancy Rinaldi at 337-0101, ext. 1310.

Academic Excellence Scholarships

Pending appropriation of State funds, scholarships for Academic Excellence will be awarded to top high school seniors in June, 2021.  North Collins Jr/Sr High School will select the three (3) top students using the Rank in Class Method.  These students will be chosen using the class rank at the end of their junior year as specified by the New York State Education Department.

Seniors are encouraged to check out studentscholarships.org for a listing of scholarships New York State school district students may be eligible for.  There are hundreds of thousands of dollars of scholarships available on this website, and most are easy to apply for.  

Erie Community College offers many scholarships which may be accessed on the ECC website. Click on the quick links drop down box and then click on scholarship opportunities. The scholarship packet will display the criteria for each scholarship available.

In addition, there are a number of local scholarships available to graduating seniors. Information on these scholarships will be posted to our website in Spring 2020, along with their due date. Please check our website often for updates.

REGIONAL & NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS 
Below are regional and national scholarships which may be of interest to you. In most cases, applications are available in the Guidance Office for anyone interested. Each scholarship has a different deadline, so please pay close attention to those dates to ensure your application is received in time. 


Dr. Jon Lazare Scholarship

This one-time $500 scholarship is available to all high school seniors and current college students who are planning on entering the medical field.

PB & J Scholarship

The PB&J Scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. Open to high school seniors attending accredited 2 year or 4 year colleges in the US. Examples of personal challenges include, but are not limited to:

  • Medical issues
  • Peer issues: bullying, change of school, minority status, etc.
  • Family issues: divorce, death, lack of income, homelessness, foster care, abuse, etc.

Awards for this scholarship range from $500 to $1,000. Please visit pbjscholarship.org for information on how to apply.

El Dabe Ritter Scholarship

This $1,500 scholarship is provided by the El Dabe Ritter Law Offices to support those seniors who want a higher education.  Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited university in the USA and must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.  The scholarship may be used for any form of school related expenses.

Scalp and Blade Scholarship

$2,500 per year, renewable for a total of 4 years. Scholarship total is $10,000 and is available to a male senior student who demonstrates outstanding academic accomplishments in terms of grades and college entrance exams, extracurricular activities, community involvement as well as financial need.

Norman F. Locher Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is presented in the memory of Norman F. Locher, Past President of the Erie County Fire District Officers Association.


Eligibility:

  • Be a high school senior who has exemplified community involvement in the County of Erie.
  • Preference will be given to students who assist in the emergency services, and are matriculating in the Emergency Services fields of Fire or EMS.
  • Demonstrate at least a “C” average throughout high school.
  • Show evidence of acceptance to a two or four year college program.
  • Be a resident of an area served by a volunteer fire company.

Arthur E. Cosgrove Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is presented in the memory of Arthur E. Cosgrove Past Treasurer of the Erie County Fire District Officers Association. 

Eligibility:

  • Be a high school senior who has exemplified community involvement in the County of Erie.
  • Preference will be given to students who assist in the emergency services, and are matriculating in the Emergency Services fields of Fire or EMS.
  • Demonstrate at least a “C” average throughout high school.
  • Show evidence of acceptance to a two or four year college program.
  • Be a resident of an area served by a volunteer fire company.

Arthur Blachowski Memorial Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship in memory of Arthur Blachowski, past president of the Erie County Fire District Officers Association is available.  Criteria as follows:

  • Be a high school senior who has exemplified community involvement in the County of Erie.  Preference will be given to students who assist in the emergency services, and are matriculating in the Emergency Services fields of Fire or EMS.
  • Demonstrate at least a “C” average throughout high school.

The New York Water Environment Association Scholarship

The New York Water Environment Association awards over $50,000 in scholarship funding to students pursuing environmental degrees each year, with awards from $4,000 to $12,000 per scholarship.

Erie County Fair Scholarships

A $250 scholarship is available to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria:

  • resides in Niagara or Erie County
  • has a relative who is/was a veteran (reservists who have completed 180 continuous days of service are considered veterans.)
  • shows a unique blend of academic achievement and community service
  • anticipates enrollment in an accredited program of higher education beginning in the fall of 2021

City Property Management HOA Service Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is open nationwide to those who will be attending college during the fall semester of 2021. Special consideration will be given to an undergraduate who is interested in pursuing a career in HOA Management, but anyone meeting the requirements who can demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the Real Estate field will be considered.

The scholarship will be judged primarily on merit and need. Academic achievements as well as any leadership experiences will be taken in account.

The Engineering Society of Buffalo Scholarship

The Engineering Society of Buffalo will award four (4) scholarships worth $2,400 per year to students who anticipate acceptance in the engineering or technology curriculum at SUNY Buffalo, Buffalo State College, or Erie Community College.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Erie County Master Gardener Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship was created for college bound seniors pursuing the study of horticulture, botany or a related field.

Eighth District Federated Garden Club Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating seniors enrolling in a course of study in a horticultural, environmental, or related field.

Western Chapter of NYWEA Scholarship

The Western New York Chapter of NYWEA is offering three awards - $1,500, $1,250, $1,000.

The students must be enrolled in an environmental related curriculum at the undergraduate level.  Awards will be distributed based on academic, extracurricular and community activities, references and personal goals.

Young Achievers Scholarship  Program

The Young Achievers Scholarship Program awards college scholarships to high school students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community, or the workplace. Three students will be selected to receive $1,000 awards.

Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek-American Legion Scholarship Trust

This scholarship is intended to assist 8th District NYS Veterans, their families, and patriotic students who share the ideals of the American Legion.  There are two $1,500 scholarships available.  It will be awarded based on veteran status (including family members), financial need, scholastic ability, realistic goals, extra-curricular activities and community involvement.

Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Application Deadline:  Must be received by May 7, 2021 by noon


Erie County Fair Scholarships

The Erie County Fair Scholarships seeks students who are enrolled or enrolling in a college or university.

These students must have participated in the Erie County Fair in some capacity in order to be eligible. Participation includes, but is not limited to, employment, exhibition, volunteering, marching band, or other performances. Five $1,000 scholarships are available in 2021.

Erie County Agricultural Society Scholarship

This scholarship is limited to students who are pursuing an agricultural related career.  Students must be enrolled or enrolling in a college or university and must be able to describe how their field of study will help them in their agricultural endeavors. 

Applicants must show participation in the Erie County Fair or Erie County Agricultural Society sponsored activities.  $5,000 scholarship(s) are available in 2021.Guidelines and application can be found online at  https://www.ecfair.org/p/other/scholarships

Gerard J. Buckenmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship

Applicants must be actively participating as a volunteer firefighter or junior firefighter to apply for the twenty-five $1,500 scholarships available this year.

Aurora Players, Roberta Rathbun Scholarship for Theatrical Arts

The Aurora Players, Inc., a community theater group in East Aurora, is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is committed to continuing his/her education in the field of theater/performing arts.

Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a graduating 2021 high school senior.
  • Student must be pursuing theater (performance, technical or design) at an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • The applicant must provide proof of acceptance in such a program.
  • Three letters of recommendation, at least one with whom the applicant has worked with in theater.
  • A one page theater resume

NY Conference of Italian-American State Legislators Scholarships

Four $4,000 scholarships will be awarded (two academic, two athletic) to residents of NYS that plan on entering college in the Fall of 2021.

Buffalo Urban League Scholarships

The Buffalo Urban League Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high seniors based on character, academic achievement, financial need or community service. There are one-time awards of $250 to four year awards of up to $4,000.

Lawrence D. Bell Niagara Frontier Chapter of the Air Force Association Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is open to students who have maintained an 85% or above grade point average, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and demonstrated outstanding leadership traits.
