Student Aid Online

In-depth information on federal student aid programs, applying for financial aid, and repaying student loans can be found at  www.studentaid.gov.

FAFSA

You may apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) beginning October 1 at www.fafsa.ed.gov   The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. Use it to apply for federal student financial aid, such as the Pell Grant, student loans, and college work-study. Please contact Mr. English at 337-0101, ext. 1311 with any questions.

File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ or get the paper FAFSA from the Guidance Office.  When you submit an electronic FAFSA, you will also be able to complete HESC's TAP application online. The link to the online TAP application is on the FAFSA Submission Confirmation page.

Gather these materials:

  •   W-2 statements, if estimating
  •   Your parents income tax forms (if completed)
  •   Bank account balances and other asset values

File your application on time!  Apply as soon after January 1 as possible.  Check with your college about financial aid application deadlines.

You and your parents should get a PIN from the U.S. Department of Education at www.pin.ed.gov if you plan to apply online. 


State Assessment Information

Information for parents on State assessments and Regents examinations is available in the Resources for Parents section of the SED website and will provide answers to common questions parents have about the state assessments, Regents examinations, and the standards. It will also feature a series of fact sheets in web and printer-friendly format. These will be available to help school administrators, teachers, and other education leaders address the concerns parents have about testing and their students.


Vocational Training

The Ormsby and Carrier Vocational Centers will be present in the high school in the coming school year to speak with all sophomores who are interested in attending vocational during their Junior year. Learn about courses in such career-driven fields as culinary arts, criminal justice, cosmetology, diesel mechanics, auto body repair, sports conditioning and many more. Please contact the Guidance Office at 337-0101, ext. 1310 with any questions you have or to discuss your options.
